Final Update

Just finished the lighting and environment on the Jeep, so this is officially the last update I'm posting until I graduate, three weeks from now. I'll post the final demo reel shortly after that, and hopefully be starting new projects.

Jeep x Environment Renders

Been working a bit more on the Jeep, the modeling is pretty much done on it, now I have to set up the shaders/textures, which will hopefully be done in a few weeks. *Edit* Updated renders slightly.

Jungle Render

Starting to put stuff together and figure out the general feel of the environment. So far I'm just adding the main elements that I want in the scene before cluttering it up with more dense foliage, since I've cut down the original size of the environment and am going to focus on the jeep and ruins.

WIP Demo Reel

During the past few days I have rendered out two of the pieces on my demo reel. Most of it will look slightly overlit compared to the renders I have been posting, especially the repair shop, but I'm keeping it that way so I can work on the textures more easily; the final version will be a bit darker. Other than that, pretty much all of the modeling save for a few tiny details is in both pieces, so now its all texturing and lighting.

Repair Shop Progress

Been working pretty hard on getting the repair shop going this week, and adding a lot more detail to it and clutter. More updates to come in the next week or so as I'm planning to have all the modeling finished by the end of next week.

Repair Shop Progress

Been working on a power source for the repair shop, figured I'd post what I have so far. The lighting in it and blotchiness will go away once I get the lighting going, but for now it's just an idea of where I'm taking the power generator.

Repair Shop Rehaul

After taking a week off to relax a bit, I'm back to working on my demo reel. For the repair shop, I am taking all the models from it and making it into a slightly larger scene. So far I am just placing stuff, blocking new shapes in, and seeing what new things I need to model and texture for the environment, as well as some very basic lighting. More updates coming soon.

Brick Wall

A modular brick wall I've been working on lately for the jungle environment that I've started to work on again after a small break. Bricks are modeled in Zbrush, with normals transfered over to 100 poly versions in Maya.

Reactor Core

This is a model I've been recently working on for a friend's demo reel. It's a high poly sci fi reactor core that was modeled pretty much from scratch, save for the outer shell, which was made by another modeler on the project. So far all I have are screenshots from Maya, since I haven't had time to render it out with materials and lighting yet.

Control Panel Final

Well, I got the control panel finished up today. The screens are green so they can be keyed out in the final render, to be replaced with video. Other than that, It was a fun little side project, so now I get to go back and work on my demo reel stuff with a fresh perspective.

*Edit* Reuploaded a grimier version without the panels ready for keying, this is actually the final version based on the feedback I got on it.

First Texture Pass - Control Panel

Got the first texture pass down; nothing too fancy really for now. The idea is to have a lot of contrast in the color scheme, so that it can read nicely from a distance, since it will be fairly small in the scene. I still have to add shaders to it, as now It's just standard lambert shaded, so next update with finished textures and materials will be on Saturday.

Control Panel WIP

Started a quick side project yesterday to help keep things fresh while working on my reel. This is a control panel that I'm in the progress of making for a friend's vfx scene. Basically it will be in a pretty high tech lab in the style of the hadron collider labs, and the actual control panel will get at most a medium/ long shot, so I will be moving most of the details over to normal map using Maya's transfer maps.

More progress soon to come as I get more time to add to it.

Jeep Willys - Finished Geo


Finished up the modeling on the Jeep, textures and materials should be done sometime in the next few weeks depending on my workload. One thing I still need to add to it is normal mapping on parts like the tires to help keep the polycount down.

Jeep Willys


Here's a quick render of a jeep that I'm working on in the past few days for my new environment on my demo reel.

The environment is going to be based around jungle ruins, so I'm trying to work in an Indiana Jones type theme, with a small expedition camp set up in the middle of the ruins. So far I've got the barebones parts of the jeep modeled in, so hopefully I'll get the whole modeling part of it finished by Sunday, as I still need to add in an interior, and small details.

Plane Render v2


Quick lighting pass that I did on the plane. I haven't managed to get much done texture wise at all over the break as I was working on the repair shop, however now I have production class in my final quarter, which will be focused only on this model, so hopefully updates will be more frequent.

Repair Shop Texture Pass Pt.2


Been working a bit more on the repair shop, now focusing on the value of the objects in the scene. To make the mechanical arms pop a bit more, I've gone with a cooler color scheme for the background elements, to push them back, while keeping the arms a nice safety orange.

Repair Shop Texture Pass Pt.1


Update time; been working during the break on textures for the repair shop, which will be one of the main pieces on my demo reel. The idea is to have a texture pass for the end of break on most of it, so I'll have three months to polish it.

New update, this is my take on a Fokker EIII plane from the First World War. I added quite a few things to it to give it a bit of a personal twist. This plane is for a VFX production that I'm currently a part of at school, so its still very much a work in progress.

These are a few renders of a repair shop environment I'm working on for my demo reel, I'll post more in progress shots as I get more of it done, the spaceship actually wasn't modeled by me, but by a friend of mine. It is a placeholder for another model that I'm currently working on that will fit inside the environment.
